About Us

EVERY CHILD A MATHEMATICIAN

At East Midlands West Maths Hub our vision is to support the transformation of mathematics education in our region so that all of our children are excited about and committed to being mathematicians; contributing to their own, as well as regional and national prosperity.  We will support our learning community (parents, pupils, teachers, support professionals, and leaders) to make this a sustainable reality.

The Maths Hub is led by the Maths Hub Leadership and Management Team (MHLM). This includes the Maths Hub Lead (MHL) and Assistant Maths Hub Leads (AMHLs) for each phase. The work of the Hub is strategically overseen by the Strategic Board, which provides challenge, support and accountability.

East Midlands West Maths Hub was successfully launched in November 2014 with an innovative and varied programme of workshops and events for foundation, primary and secondary maths teachers, FE lecturers and curriculum leaders. To date, our workshops and professional network events have proved to be a valuable and welcome addition to teachers’ personal development plans and have had an immediate and positive impact on their teaching practice.

We are totally inclusive and our Maths Hub is open and accessible to all educational establishments, irrespective of phase, alliance or other networks.  There is no charge to join our Maths Hub.

We are excited to continue to work with our established partners and those who join us in the future.

AREAS WE COVER

The geographical area we cover is Amber Valley, Bolsover, Chesterfield, Derby, Derbyshire Dales, Erewash, North East Derbyshire, Nottingham, South Derbyshire, Ashfield and Broxtowe Local Authority Districts.

We continue to work in collaboration with East Midlands East, East Midlands South and South Yorkshire Maths Hubs to meet the needs of all schools across the region, so please don’t hesitate to contact us if you are close to a border or part of a group of schools across the region.

MEET THE TEAM

The Lead School for East Midlands West Maths Hub is George Spencer Academy, part of the Spencer Academies Trust.

Each Maths Hub is a partnership, led locally by a school, college or trust. The Lead Institution identifies strategic partners, who help plan and evaluate the hub’s work, and operational partners, who help carry out the hub’s work. The Maths Hub is supported by a range of partnership organisations. Find out more about these below.

Professional development is provided by all of our partnership organisations across the region. Our Team is made up of the Maths Hub Leadership and Management Team, Strategic Board, and our Local Leaders of Maths Education (LLME).
